Nick Gibb MP had the opportunity to say thank you to staff at Morrisons in Littlehampton for their work and commitment during the pandemic in keeping supermarkets open and ensuring food and basic necessities continue to be available.
Mr Gibb was invited to the store by Morrisons’ Littlehampton Community Champion, Alison (Ali) Whitburn.
Alison’s role is to work on local community projects in the town on behalf of Morrisons; projects such as Littlehampton Community Fridge. She also helps to coordinate doorstep deliveries to those who struggle to get to the store.
Nick Gibb said: “Throughout the Covid pandemic supermarkets have remained open and fully operating, ensuring the nation is supplied with the food and necessities we all need to survive. We mustn’t forget that every supermarket is staffed by dedicated people who keep going to work, helping customers and keeping the supply chain operating even at times when the infection rate was at its highest.
“Today was an opportunity for me, on behalf of everyone in Littlehampton and Bognor Regis, to say thank you to all those who work in our supermarkets and grocery stores. Without you the country simply could not have survived. Thank you for your commitment and professionalism which has ensured the supplies keep on coming even during the darkest hours of this terrible crisis. And thank you for all you do to support local charities and voluntary bodies in our area, helping to keep the community thriving.”
