Nick Gibb MP visited Yapton CE Primary School as part of UK Parliament Week which took place across the country. UK Parliament Week is organised by the Outreach centre in Parliament to teach about the importance and functions of Parliament. Organisations throughout the country are involved with hundreds of events designed to introduce people to the work of Parliament.
Nick Gibb said: "During my visit to the school I took part in the whole-school assembly and talked about how the House of Commons works, what Members of Parliament do and how they are elected. We discussed ideas for laws that the children would like to see changed.
"After the assembly I met the school council, elected representatives from each class. We discussed school funding and the SAT tests that year 6 pupils take at the end of their time at primary school. We also discussed their career ambitions. It was a great pleasure to meet such engaged and delightful young people."
