Nick Gibb attended a meeting with the Secretary of State for Transport, Chris Grayling and the Rail Minister Paul Maynard to discuss the issue of the ASLEF train strike on the Southern network.
Chris talked about the determination of the Government to end the dispute, including inviting ASLEF general secretary Mick Whelan to talks even as late as this Sunday. ASLEF refused to attend.
Other MPs from Sussex and Surrey were also at the meeting, including Andrew Tyrie MP, Sir Nicholas Soames MP, Nick Herbert MP and Tim Loughton.
Nick Gibb said: "The irresponsible and selfish approach of the rail unions in striking this week, following months of disruptive action, has caused huge suffering and inconvenience for hundreds of thousands of commuters.
"Strikes are an unacceptable way to deal with trade disputes, and deliberately causing inconvenience for people going about their business is no way for any union to behave in a modern economy."
