Nick Gibb popped in to meet Paul Crease, the lessee of the Arun View pub on the banks of the River Arun in Littlehampton. Paul is in his 31st year as the lessee of the Arun View.
The pub was originally opened in the 1870s. In 2014, the pub was totally refurbished following the Environment Agency’s major work rebuilding the riverbank to protect the town from fluvial flooding. It now serves 1800 meals a week and employs 27 people, ranging in age from 16 to their early 70s.
Nick Gibb said: “The Arun View is a well known destination for people from around the area and tourists from further afield who want to sample their famous locally sourced and home cooked fish and chips while looking out on the aquamarine River Arun.
“Paul has run a hugely successful local business for more than three decades, providing an important attraction for our seaside and riverside town. “
