Nick Gibb MP met Peter Spicer, the After Sales Manager at the Nissan car showroom on the Arun Business Park, to discuss the safety and economic concerns caused by the overflow of traffic in the area.
The overflow is due to the revised hours of the Household Waste Recycling Site at Bognor Regis, where opening hours have changed and working days have reduced from 7 to 5 days per week. Residents of the area have raised concerns about safety, as many have witnessed near collisions due to the queue leading down the A29 Shripney Road. Additionally, companies operating in the Business Park have noted that it has had a negative effect on their business due to the inaccessibility of the entrance to the Business Park.
Nick Gibb said: "I am appalled by the decision by West Sussex County Council to reduce the operating days of this busy amenity tip. It is having a damaging effect on local businesses and it's causing danger for motorists and pedestrians. It is also hugely inconvenient for residents of Bognor Regis. I have written to the council and am calling on them to reverse this short-sighted decision."
