The Aldwick Green Conservation Society held its annual summer fayre, marking its 25th anniversary as a society, to raise the funds it needs to maintain Aldwick Green (known locally as the Pound). Although the heavy lifting work such as grass cutting and weeding is carried out by Arun District Council, other improvements and maintenance is carried out by a whole of team of volunteers, led by the Society's chairman, Ken Hiscock.
Nick Gibb said: "The delight people have in walking around Aldwick Green, or the Pound, is down to the hard work of scores of local volunteers. From tree planting and pruning to the installation of bird boxes and park benches, volunteers work tirelessly to keep the Green looking wonderful. The funds raised from the fayre will go towards new projects."
