As part of Libraries Week (8-13 October) Nick Gibb visited Bognor Regis Library at the invitation of the library’s manager, Pam O’Brien.
As well as meeting the staff and seeing the public part of the library, Mr Gibb saw the behind-the-scenes operation and the new meeting rooms which are available to hire.
The Bognor Regis Library is open six days a week. It has 40,000 books on its shelves and lends 200,000 books each year. There are 17,000 members of the library and 118,000 visits each year.
As well as books the library has 13 publicly available computers, a toy library (for lending toys), and it lends DVDs and CDs.
Nick Gibb said, “It was a pleasure to meet the manager and staff of our first class local library. Its recent refurbishment means it is an even more welcoming place, encouraging all of us to read and enjoy books. Bognor Regis Library also hosts visiting authors and book clubs.”
