Nick Gibb visited the headquarters and assembly plant of award-winning Yapton-based business PpTek Limited this week.
PpTek Limited, which is located at the Orchard Business Park in Yapton, was recently awarded the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for International Trade.
The company manufactures gas purification systems for industry. In particular it extracts a chemical common in cosmetics, called Siloxane. If this chemical isn’t removed from gases it can solidify into sand and cause damage to machinery.
The company was established 12 years ago by John Hayward, his son Dave Hayward and by Bill Cowing (pictured with Nick Gibb in photo in front of one of their products).
The company now has a turnover of £3 million and exports 70% of its machinery and systems. The machines cost between £70,000 and £250,000 depending on the size.
Nick Gibb said, “It is good news that such a successful company is located in Yapton. It employs 10 people directly but the components it uses are all manufactured by local companies, resulting in even more high quality jobs for this area. This is a business success story. And winning the Queen’s Award is a real accolade for a high tech company we can all be proud of.”
