Ahead of Christmas, Nick Gibb met Carol Boreham at the Wickbourne Centre in Littlehampton where she runs the Littlehampton branch of the Christians Against Poverty (CAP) Debt Centre.
Christians Against Poverty is a Christian charity founded in Bradford in 1996. Its purpose is to help people struggling with debt, unemployment and addiction. The service is delivered face-to-face and cater to the needs of the most vulnerable. The project has grown and now operates from 500 local churches throughout the UK.
The charity opened in Littlehampton in August 2016 (the CAP Centre in Bognor Regis has been open for the last 15 years, run by the Vineyard Church).
Nick Gibb said: "When people's finances are out of control it can cause huge stress for themselves and their family. The CAP Debt Centre, operating out of the Wickbourne Centre in Littlehampton by the Arun Community Church, is part of a national charity with vast experience of advising people how to tackle their debt problems. The phone number is 0800 328 0006. Many people in the area have already taken advantage of the confidential service and are back in control of their lives."
