Nick Gibb has written to the Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government, Greg Clark MP, urging him to legislate to reduce the maximum fee that site owners are permitted to charge on the sale of park homes from 10% of the sale price to 5%.
A Park Homes Act came into force in 2013 and it is therefore unlikely there will be another piece of legislation on this issue before 2017. But Mr Gibb is urging the Government to legislate in 2017 to reduce the maximum fee to 5%.
Nick Gibb said, “Having to pay 10% of the sale price of your home to the site owners does seem to be a high price to pay to sell your home, on top of all the other fees and charges moving home entails.
“I do not accept that such fees are necessary to make park home developments viable. The running costs of such developments are relatively modest.”
Mr Gibb added, “This issue has been raised with me by thousands of other park home residents in both Bognor Regis and Littlehampton. I want to see the 10% fee either halved or abolished.”
